On the 21st of June, Jumbo’s Fairpartner finished loading the world’s biggest Goliath gantry crane in Mokpo, South Korea. The dissembled crane has a total volume of 58,745 cbm, weighs 6,506t and is being shipped to Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. The cranes four legs were loaded using a tandem crane lift and the fifteen main girder blocks were single lifted. The crane drivers, performed accurate lifts and loaded the girder blocks safely and according to plan. This was challenging, due to the small clearances between each girder block. The fully flush weather deck allowed the cargo to protrude on both sides. On the 14th of June the Stellaprima loaded an upper and lower trolley belonging to the same Goliath crane in Hanko, Finland.
The Goliath crane will be transported to a shipyard in Rio Grande do Sul, where it will be used to support the building of drill ships for the oil and gas industry. It is expected that the crane will significantly raise productivity at the shipyard.
